Well Done to our 35 Aerobics, Step and Tone students studying to be Group Fitness Instructors in Gauteng. They have been practicing their skills twice a week for the last few months and are nearing completion of their course and their final assessment - an hours practical class. This will be assessed according to a strict criteria. eta College wishes them all the best!! Have Fun everyone! Western Province Cricket Association Again CATHSSETA funded the training of 10 candidates in partnership with Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) and eta College. Again, the skills programme Sport Club Administration was successfully completed. Some really exciting outcomes from this skills programmes are highlighted below:
For the last few years, eta Special Projects has been fortunate enough to have been awarded several CATHSSETA funded learnership programmes with Virgin Active. Learnerships are designed for both current employees as well as unemployed people. Learnerships are designed to improve and uplift the skills levels of individuals. The intention is to enhance South Africa’s productivity by having a skilled work force which can contribute to economic development. What is a learnership A learnership is a structured, work-based learning programme which: • combines theory and practice; • includes on-the-job and off-the-job learning; • requires a signed agreement between the employer, learner and provider; • requires a contract of employment in the case of unemployed learners; • results in the achievement of a national qualification recognised by South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). In most cases, these learnerships consist of the learners completing the National Certificate in Fitness (NQF Level 5). These learnerships have been very successful and the partnership between eta Special Projects, Virgin Active and CATHSSETA has grown from strength to strength. There are currently learnerships taking place in Gauteng, Western Cape and Kwazulu-Natal. Check out some pictures from our Virgin Active Western Cape Learnership.
As we near the end of this learnership, the 16 candidates from AMANDLA are planning, organising and implementing a sporting event of their own in Khayelitsha. This event is to be held on Saturday 23rd August. WATCH THIS SPACE!!
